Croydon Touch Football carnival will be held from the 20th April until the 2nd of April, 2016. This is a fabulous event with schools coming from far and wide to compete. Training is well underway for both Junior and Senior teams. All teams train on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 with their coaches Kerri Wood and Ian Tincknell. A big thankyou goes to Ian Tincknell for sharing his expertise throughout the Touch Football season.
On the 22nd of April the Gulf Eisteddfod will also be held in Croydon. The school's rendition of "Island In The Sun" will be a hit with the judges. Our appreciation goes out to Kerri Wood, Nicole Epple and Cindy Attwood for organising the event.
Once again students from prep to year six will participate in the annual Premier's Reading Challenge. Students are encouraged to read nightly and have their books signed by a parent. Participation certificates will be handed out on parade.
Upper class students have also participated in the Ikin's Angels Car Wash which is raising funds for remote people affected by cancer. They raised over $300 in support of this worthwhile cause. Congratulations to everyone who was involved. Thanks to Chappy Joe for organising the event.
This year we have joined forces with the staff and students of the Little Gems Childrens Centre to Clean Up Australia. Senior students worked with day-care children to clean up Greens Park while the preps to grade four students made our school look fantastic.
We also joined forces to support the Leukaemia Foundation's Greatest Shave. We raised $104 for this great cause and had a great time watching local community members be coloured.
