Georgetown State School has a strong focus on following the Australian curriculum as directed from the state and federal governments. Both the junior class and the upper class utilise this curriculum to better educate the students of our wonderful school. Currently Georgetown SS follows the National Curriculum for English, Maths, Science, History, HPE, Business and Economics, Civics and Citizenship and Geography. History and Geography are offered on a term basis and rotated throughout the year.
Our curriculum is enhanced with the following programs:
Junior Elementary Maths Mastery (JEMMS) and Elementary Maths Mastery (EMMS)
- Spelling Mastery
- CARS and STARS - comprehension
- Age Appropriate Pedagogies
LOTE is offered through the Cairns School of Distance Education for year five and six students. Currently the students are studying Japanese.
Georgetown SS works hard to ensure that the students have access to quality, explicit teaching lessons that provide the best learning opportunities for all students. In 2016, our whole school is committed to the explicit teaching and learning of reading comprehension and
spelling and enhancing the higher order thinking skills of our students.
